When Tyranny Becomes Law Hoodie

Rebellion against tyranny is part of our American heritage and history, dating back to the earliest stages of our nation. But in recent years, many Americans have come to think of rebellion as a negative thing, even if it is against a over-reaching and tyrannical government.  

However, our Founding Fathers had a very clear understanding of the fact that there is a time and place for rebelling against an abusive government. In fact, it is not only our right, but it is our duty to rebel when the civil government becomes a tyrannical power encroaching on our rights and freedoms.

Thomas Jefferson stated this idea very clearly in the very document that started our nation, the Declaration of Independence: "But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."
